St Ninian’s in flood

In February 2018 torrential rains in North Canberra flooded the church and hall. This was the first time in St Ninian’s history that the premises were flooded. It happened on a Sunday morning as people were arriving for church. Ten minutes into the church service the Minister had to abandon worship and asked people to go home as quickly as they could. For some this was not so easy as their cars hadn’t escaped the deluge. Some elderly people had to be carried across the water to reach their transport. Some late comers did not make it to church that morning as the roads were closed.

We are gradually getting the premises back to normal with new carpet laid in the Church and the office space in July and new coverings to the hall floor early August.
